When I found Jake Parker's art, website, and videos I could NOT BELIEVE WHAT I HAD BEEN MISSING. He has been such a help on my current artistic journey, and a true inspiration for me. I have purchased some of his books, (including Rocket Raccoon and Missile Mouse) and love his storytelling prowess. I have watched all of his videos, most more than once, and continue to learn from studying his artwork. This year I participated in #artdropday, and even had my students make some art for it as well. All that being said, I cannot wait for Inktober. What an amazing idea for a project. I have been doing character ink drawings all of September to prep for this and, as you have seen from this blog so far, that is something I plan on continuing for the Computer Paper Project. I have done a ton of pre-sketches that are ready for inks, and I may have even jumped the gun on a couple of them and started inking. So here is my Inktober pledge to you:
A. 1 Inked Character Drawing EVERYDAY (some licensed, some original)
B. Scarlett and the Red Balloon - Back in August I started working on a 15 page short story comic, so by the end of Inktober I would also like to have this completed as well. If you check out my YouTube page there are some vlogs chronicling my journey in this story so far, and I will share some of the concept art here as well.
Last thing, (man, what a lengthy update) check out this video from Jake Parker. Seriously, if you need inspiration to get started this is a great place. Inktober here I come!!!
