I do enjoy coloring my pictures when time permits. I would like to do more of this type of coloring, after Inktober of course haha.

The Wizard of Oz has been of the most influential stories in my life. When I was little my Mom was able to turn on the Wizard of Oz, and I would be absolutely enamored with it from start to finish. The character develop is so rich, and the world Baum created was so vibrant. As I got older I began to enjoy both the novels, and the Marvel comic book adaptations. I was even able to get a copy of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz signed by Skottie Young! I was working at Barnes and Noble at the time, and he did a book signing over the summer at our store. I got to help him out all day which, needless to say, was the best day of work ever haha. I like this drawing and the textures I produced, but I kind of ran out of room so I might redo this one at some point. Long live the Emerald City.
Still on that Dr. Seuss kick! Not a bad picture by any means. I should have spent a little more time laying things out, but I still think it a lot of fun.
When I found Jake Parker's art, website, and videos I could NOT BELIEVE WHAT I HAD BEEN MISSING. He has been such a help on my current artistic journey, and a true inspiration for me. I have purchased some of his books, (including Rocket Raccoon and Missile Mouse) and love his storytelling prowess. I have watched all of his videos, most more than once, and continue to learn from studying his artwork. This year I participated in #artdropday, and even had my students make some art for it as well. All that being said, I cannot wait for Inktober. What an amazing idea for a project. I have been doing character ink drawings all of September to prep for this and, as you have seen from this blog so far, that is something I plan on continuing for the Computer Paper Project. I have done a ton of pre-sketches that are ready for inks, and I may have even jumped the gun on a couple of them and started inking. So here is my Inktober pledge to you: A. 1 Inked Character Drawing EVERYDAY (some licensed, some original) B. Scarlett and the Red Balloon - Back in August I started working on a 15 page short story comic, so by the end of Inktober I would also like to have this completed as well. If you check out my YouTube page there are some vlogs chronicling my journey in this story so far, and I will share some of the concept art here as well. Last thing, (man, what a lengthy update) check out this video from Jake Parker. Seriously, if you need inspiration to get started this is a great place. Inktober here I come!!! I was so pleased with myself after finishing this picture. Great use of foreground, middleground, and background. I think the line weight is working, and the shapes are just as fun as they are supposed to be. Might color this one ;)
The Silver Chair is an incredible journey, and I think a great stand alone story. Not always everyone's first choice for a Narnia book, but is definitely a must read. I like this drawing okay, I think the idea was nice, but looking back on it I am not a huge fan of the cross hatching on the rocks. I am learning though, and it is nice to see progression!
Neverending Story played a massive role in my childhood, and to this day it is still one of my absolute favorite books. The movie is great, in a nostalgic kind of way. I don't really care for the 2nd and 3rd movies though... Anyway, I think I did a good job on this drawing, when I started it kind of looked like E.T., but now that it's finished it really feels like a successful Morla.
Always thought this was a great story. Love the contrast created by the blue and green in it. It has always been extremely enjoyable to reread Dr. Seuss stories as an adult. They are truly timeless.
Still trying to get the scanning settings right. I have been drawing a lot of these with Prismacolor Col Erase colored pencil under-drawings, but the scan settings are being weird. Might have to Photoshop them, and just the levels. Anyway, this drawing I feel is mildly successful, and I kind of like the pose. The glider should have been cooler though...
